The client's aspiration for the site in context:

The site for the house affords:

• VIEWS:  wonderful views across the vineyard to the north west,
• SUNLIGHT:  good unshaded space on the southeast corner and
• SECLUSION:  a secluded private garden formed by a Bothy and stone walled garden.

The client wanted a design that responded to its setting so, like the Bothy, the house becomes part of the walled-garden and is arranged as a series of private spaces around the garden with punctuations in the garden wall providing occasional views to the vineyard.
